PRINCE OF WALES WHEELS DUCHESS OF CORNWALL TO THE OPERA
THE PRINCE OF WALES WHEELED THE DUCHESS OF CORNWALL INTO THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE AS THEY ARRIVED FOR THE FIRST NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE AIDA. THE DUCHESS OF CORNWALL FRACTURED HER LEFT LEG WHILE HILLWALKING IN SCOTLAND EARLIER THIS MONTH AND HAS BEEN USING A WHEELCHAIR TO KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF HER FIBULA BONE IN HEALS. THE CAST ON HER LOWER LEG DID BOT STOP CAMILLA FROM LOOKING GLAMOROUS IN A SPARKLING ROYAL BLUE COAT AND PLEATED CHIFFON DRESS BY ONE OF HER FAVORITE DESIGNERS, ANNA VALENTINE. THE PROCEEDS FROM WEDNESDAY NIGHT'S PERFORMANCE AND TICKETS FOR A DINER WITH THE CAST WILL BENEFIT THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE FOUNDATION, THE CHARITY WHICH SUPPORTS THE VENUE'S WORK. THE NEW PRODUCTION, DIRECTED BY DADID MCVICAR, IS THE FIRST TIME AIDA HAS BEEN PERFORMED AT THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE SINCE 2003 AND STARS ITALIAN SOPRANO MICAELA CAROSI IN THE TITLE ROLE.
