ELIZABETH TAYLOR VISITS CAST OF 'PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT'
WITH A GLITTERING ABUNDANCE OF SPARKLE, GLAMOR AND CAMPY ATTITUDE IT'S NOT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHY 'PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT' MIGHT APPEAL TO ICONIC SCREEN LEGEND ELIZABETH TAYLOR. TAYLOR BROUGHT SOME EXTRA HOLLYWOOD GLITZ TO THE WEST END MUSICAL AS SHE JOINED THE AUDIENCE TO WATCH JASON DONOVAN STRUT HIS STUFF ON STAGE AT LONDON'S PALACE THEATRE RECENTLY. THE 78 YEAR OLD ICON WENT BACKSTAGE TO MEET DONOVAN AND THE MEMBERS OF THE PRODUCTION, ALL OF WHOM JUMPED AT THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEND TIME WITH THE STAR. TAYLOR, WHO IS NOW CONFINED TO A WHEELCHAIR, LOOKED ALL THE STAR IN A PURPLE SATIN DRESS WITH GOLD DETAILING, A MATCHING GOLD CLUTCH AND AN ABUNDANCE OF SPARKLING GEMS. AUSTRALIAN ACTOR DONOVAN FIRST TOOK TO THE STAGE IN THE WEST END MUSICAL IN MARCH LAST YEAR. HE HAS WON RAVE REVIEWS FOR HIS ROLE AS DRAG QUEEN TICK, WHO IS JOURNEYING TO ALICE SPRINGS IN THE AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK TO REUNITE WITH HIS LONG-LOST SON FROM HIS PAST. THE STUNNING COLOURFUL PRODUCTION IS THE CAMPEST MUSICAL SINCE LA CAGE AND FEATURES AN ARRAY OF SEQUINED, FEATHERY COSTUMES AND A HOT PINK BUS. DONOVAN IS NOW IN HIS FINAL WEEKS AS TICK, AND WILL BE REPLACED BY ACTOR BEN RICHARDS FROM 29.MAY. TAYLOR ARRIVED IN LONDON LAST MONTH TO ATTEND A GALA EVENING AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE, WHERE A BUST OF HER EX-HUSBAND RICHARD BURTON WAS UNVEILED.
