JULIAN'S AUCTIONS TO OFFER NEVER BEFORE SEEN MARILYN MONROE PHOTOGRAPHS
AN AMAZING SET OF 11 NEVER BEFORE-SEEN PHOTOGRAPHS OF HOLLYWOOD LEGEND MARILYN MONROE RELAXING ON THE SET OF HER CLASSIC COMEDY FILM 'SOME LIKE IT HOT' HAVE BEEN RECENTLY REVEALED TO THE PUBLIC. THE SHOTS ARE UNUSUAL BECAUSE THEY ARE IN COLOUR, WHEREAS THE FILM WAS DONE IN BLACK AND WHITE. THE PHOTOGRAPHS SHOW MARILYN CHATTING ON SET WITH CO-STAR TONY CURTIS IN THE 1959 FILM, THREE YEARS BEFORE HER DEATH. ANOTHER SHOWS CURTIS DRESSED IN DRAG ABOUT TO APPLY HIS OWN LIPSTICK. IT WAS CURTIS'S HEAVY MAKE-UP WHICH FORCED THE FILM TO BE SHOT IN BLACK AND WHITE. ORIGINALLY, THE PRODUCTION WAS TO BE IN FULL COLOUR, BUT AFTER SEVERAL SCREEN TESTS, IT HAD TO BE CHANGED TO BLACK AND WHITE BECAUSE OF THE VERY OBVIOUS 'GREEN TINT' AROUND THE THICK PAN-STICK REQUIRED BY CURTIS AND LEMMON WHEN PORTRAYING JOSEPHINE AND DAPHNE -- CURTIS AND LEMMON DON THE FEMALE DISGUISES TO ESCAPE GANGSTERS AFTER THEY WITNESS THE ST VALENTINE'S DAY MASSACRE. THE PHOTOS COME FROM A SET OF SLIDES TAKEN ON LOCATION IN FLORIDA, THAT ARE ABOUT TO GO ON SALE AT AN AUCTION OF SHOWBIZ MEMORABILIA. THE SALE IS BEING ORGANIZED AT THE PLANET HOLLYWOOD RESORT AND CASINO IN LAS VEGAS ON 25.JUNE BY JULIEN'S AUCTION HOUSE.
